How to create a business hours sign

Opening hours should quickly tell customers whether you are open and when to return. A consistent format is more useful than a confusing list of exceptions.

Prepare all seven days

Gather the hours from Monday to Sunday and write Closed on days without opening. Use a consistent format, such as 09:00–14:00 · 17:00–20:00 for a split day.

The tool does not consult calendars or update external business listings. Check local holidays and seasonal changes yourself.

Avoid repetitive typing

Enter the business name and Monday’s hours. If weekdays match, use Copy Monday to Tuesday–Friday, then edit exceptions. Saturday and Sunday remain independent.

Keep general notes about public holidays or appointments short. A separate vacation notice can give temporary closure dates more prominence without overloading the weekly schedule.

Review the sign from the entrance

Download the PDF for A4 or the PNG for sharing. Read every day, check the opening periods and make sure the notes do not contradict the schedule.

Display it near the entrance and test reading it from outside. When the hours change, download a new notice and remove all earlier copies.
